What is a good first fossil to buy?

Ammonites and shark teeth are the classic first fossils — visually striking, affordable, easy to identify, and impossible to damage in normal handling.

Are these fossils real?

Yes. Every fossil on this page is genuine. Replicas are sold separately and always clearly labelled — you will never receive a replica here by mistake.

How much should a first fossil cost?

You can start a collection for under £30. Most beginner-friendly specimens sit between £15 and £75.

Do I need special care or equipment?

No. Keep the fossil out of prolonged direct sunlight, avoid soaking it in water, and handle it with clean, dry hands. A shelf or small stand is all you need.
