Curator Note
Sericho is an officially classified and recognised pallasite listed in the Meteoritical Bulletin Database. This specimen represents a fantastic opportunity for collectors to acquire a certified piece of a famous 2016 Kenyan fall, rich in iron-nickel and primordial olivine minerals. Please note that as these are natural, iron-bearing fragments, they should be kept in a dry environment to prevent oxidation.

About This Meteorite
Own a genuine piece of the cosmos with this remarkable fragment of the Sericho Pallasite Meteorite. Discovered in eastern Kenya in 2016 by two brothers searching for their camels, this extraordinary stony-iron meteorite dates back to the very infancy of our Solar System, approximately 4.5 billion years ago. These natural fragments offer a tangible connection to the deep cosmic past, long before the Earth itself had fully formed.
Each specimen is a raw, naturally irregular fragment displaying the characteristic rough, dark brown, and oxidised exterior typical of iron-rich meteorites that have weathered the Earth's atmosphere. While these small, unpolished pieces do not show the gleaming interior of a sliced specimen, they carry the undeniable weight, history, and scientific significance of one of the world's most famous modern pallasite discoveries.
Formation & Preservation
Pallasites are highly unusual stony-iron meteorites that scientists believe formed deep within ancient, differentiated asteroids. They are thought to originate from the boundary zone where the asteroid's molten iron-nickel core met its rocky olivine mantle. When these primordial planetary bodies were violently disrupted by massive space collisions, fragments were scattered into the void. After billions of years of journeying through the vacuum of space, this fragment eventually fell to Earth, landing in what is now eastern Kenya.

Authenticity & Sourcing
Real vs Replica
- This is a genuine meteorite — not a replica unless clearly stated. Clearly described and honestly presented.
- You will receive a specimen similar to the one shown — see Natural Variation below.
Ethical Sourcing
- Sourced from established suppliers and known commercial sites. We do not buy from localities we know to be protected, scientifically restricted, or subject to export controls. Origin and sourcing information is shared where known.
- ✓We will not knowingly handle specimens removed in breach of any country's heritage or export laws.
Origin & Natural Variation
Stated origin (Sericho, Habaswein, Eastern Kenya) are based on supplier information and available geological references. Identification can vary in certainty — especially for fragments — so where exact locality cannot be independently verified, we describe the strewn field or classification rather than a single find site.
Meteorites are natural objects. Expect minor variation in colour, surface texture, and oxidation or cut face. Treatment information is shown under Condition & Treatment where it is recorded. “Not recorded” means we hold no verified record for that detail; it is not a claim that no treatment occurred.
