What arrives with a fossil gift?

The fossil itself, packed in acid-free tissue in a sturdy postal box, with a printed specimen card covering what it is, its age and where it was found. Real fossils and replicas are always clearly labelled.

What's a good gift for a beginner?

Look for pieces marked "Good first fossil" in the chooser above — our team flags them as easy to understand and display. Our Starter Fossils page and Getting Started guide explain the basics.

What about an experienced collector?

Collectors usually value a named species, formation and an exact photographed specimen. See our Collector Fossils page, and check each product's facts panel for age, origin and formation.

Will I receive the exact fossil in the photo?

For 'Exact Specimen' and 'Choose Your Specimen' products, yes. Where representative images are used, the product page says so clearly.

How quickly will it arrive?

Orders are normally dispatched within 2 working days (3 for some hand-prepared items). UK delivery is tracked and usually takes 2–3 working days after dispatch; UK shipping is free on orders of £50 or more. We also ship worldwide.

Can I include a gift message or send it straight to someone?

Yes. At checkout, tick "This is a gift", enter the recipient's name and delivery address, and add an optional message — we print it on a card and put it in the parcel. We don't offer a gift-wrapping service.

What if it isn't quite right?

You can return any specimen within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the item price. Full details are on our Shipping & Returns page.
